Santiago Street Corner Symphony

This week we ended tour 6 and had a day before diving into our last patagonia gig-Tour 7. As I had really yet to cruise around Santiago, I decided to go on a bit of a mini adventure. I have to say, I wasn't a massive fan of the city before but it grew on me. After walking though the barrios I ended up at the Museo de la memoria y derechos humanos-which I cannot recommend highly enough. If you have a free day in Santiago this is a phenom way to learn about the Pincohet years. Very Sombering. I cruised past the palace-which is where the photo of the day was taken, and went back to work. This city does have culture and character-you just have to be willing to look for it. Are we your guinea pigs?

The beauty of visiting the same places over and over is to do different things every time. My last group had a group that were really interested in National Park Huerquehue and since I've never been, decided I would go with them. That day we took the public bus to the park-about an hour outside of pucon. We settled on the most popular hike-the hike of los lagos. This was about 2 hours uphill-but with great views of the Volcano over the lakes it was beautiful and worth it. We were going fairly slow, which was okay cause Stephen (who hiked with me in the previous post) had just done the volcano the day before and Glyns and Judy were champs. We did see woodpeckers and LOADS of lizards so that was something neat.
We got to a lake and after lunch decided to swim! It was cold-and Stephen tugged me in but the water was refreshing to say the least. IT was really my first time swimming in Patagonia and it was ridiculously fun-even if I did have to walk back with a wet bum. Either way I did enjoy my day exploring somewhere new.

What was fitz roy named after? "uuuh FitzRoy?"

The correct answer would be "Captain of the HMS BEAGLE" but when asked on Trivia-I got this answer. Hmmm-glad they listen to me :P Just to prove that we were AGAIN BLESSED with incredible weather-here is FitzRoy from Lago De Los Tres. This is my 6th time doing this hike, but only my 2nd time seeing the peak and it was incredible up there. I have a small group (8) and only one made it up to the top-Hes a machine! It is a hard hike but for this view? Worth it!

Beauty in the world

There is beauty in the world, and the last few days have certainly proved that!! Scot and I have been blessed with the best weather-including MINIMAL wind. That in itself is a miracle here in Patagonia, which is why I attached this picture. Reflections in lakes aren't something that happens here as its always choppy, windy, rainy and cold, but the last few days its been normal summer temps (I've been in shorts!) and less windy then normal. Its been a great few days, with outstanding views. Its like Patagonia knows that we are running out of time here and is really turning it up for us.

Ice Ice baby

I know, I'm awful at keeping up. I think a lot of its got to do with the internet down here. Anyway-yesterday brought us to Perito Moreno glacier (named after one of EP's favorite south Americans!) This piece of ice is 5km wide and about the size of Buenos Aires. I think everytime I come here, I'm actually more impressed. I struggle getting my mind around that amount of ice and just the force of nature required to create it.

Tour 4.0

Bored in the truck My fourth tour of the Patagonian season ended in Santiago yesterday. I'm bummed to say goodbye to such a grand group of people, but headed BACK down into the wilderness tomorrow. Ain't no rest for the wicked.

Lagos

7 lakes drive day, although long is one of the most scenic drives we do. We follow Nuhuel Huapi national park for the majority of the morning, getting views that look like this. Even the border today is pretty, and I'm not the biggest fan of border crossings!

Life of Pryor

So heres blog 3.0 We saw Korea, south east Asia and now its time for Tales of a tour guide. Although, I'm not going to do that. I just want to show everybody what it is I do, so I'm going to try doing a picture of what I did that day, who I met or anything else that may be of interest. So to start, heres Fitzroy at Lago de los tres. -Pryor
